We Were Never Meant to Mother Alone
Founded by Mothers for Mothers
Created by two mothers—Sarah Persitz, a Somatic practitioner and spiritual midwife and Ashlie Yair, Full Spectrum Doula, and Parenting Coach —Motherswell is a monthly circle for connection, reflection, and collective nourishment.
Each gathering invites us to slow down, ground, and come together in the realness of motherhood. Here, you’ll find a space to be seen, to be heard, and to be held.
We move with the seasons and the energies of the year, exploring themes of matrescence such as identity and selfhood, relationships and partnership, power and voice, longing and loneliness, love and loss, body and belonging. Through conversation, ritual, and embodied practice, we weave a community where what feels heavy can be shared, what feels hidden can be named, and what feels sacred can be honored.
Monthly Gatherings
Matrescence: Becoming Mother
We talk a lot about what happens when a baby is born, and much less about what happens to the mother.
Matrescence gives language to the profound developmental transition of motherhood; the shifts in identity, relationships, body, priorities and sense of self that continue long beyond the postpartum years.
In this circle, we’ll explore motherhood as an ongoing process of becoming, making space for what has changed, what has been lost or left behind, what has emerged and who we are becoming now.
Our September circle will be held on September 13th, 4-6 pm in Kingston.
Motherhood + The Many Parts of Us
Motherhood asks a lot of us — and often leaves little room for the relationships, work, creativity, purpose and parts of ourselves that matter too.
We’ll talk honestly about holding so many roles at once: what feels hard, how responsibilities are shared (or aren’t), what gets pushed aside, and the pressure to somehow make it all work.
Rather than searching for perfect balance, we’ll step back and ask: What do we want our lives to hold? What do we want to still be tending twenty years from now? What is worth making room for today? And what support do we need to make that possible?
Our October circle will be held on October 18th, 4-6 pm in Kingston.
Partnership + Intimacy in Motherhood
Motherhood changes our relationships in undeniable ways; sometimes in ways we expect, and often in ways we don’t.
In this circle we’ll make space for an honest conversation about partnership and intimacy: shifting roles and responsibilities, resentment and disconnection, changes in our bodies and desire, the mental load and the challenge of finding one another when so much of our attention is going elsewhere.
Rather than trying to get back to the relationship we had before, we’ll explore what it means to tend partnership, intimacy and connection within the reality of the lives we have now.
Our November circle will be held on November 15th, 4-6 pm in Kingston.
